The Michigan Jersey Devil: A Strange Winged Creature Reported Near Levering

The Jersey Devil is traditionally associated with the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, where generations of witnesses have described a strange winged creature. But similar reports occasionally turn up far from New Jersey. One such account came from northern Michigan, near the small community of Levering.

Some years ago in northern lower Michigan, I saw a strange creature fly over my car with wings that were bat like. You could see veins through them and everything. It had a deer-like head and was four legged. I was too embarrassed to report it earlier. My niece was with me and saw the creature too but she won’t speak of it. I wanted to know if any such reports in Michigan have ever made? It’s easier to report” known” monsters but this was hard to report. The “Jersey Devil” of Levering, Michigan! – Mary W.

While the Levering sighting was described as a "Jersey Devil," the creature doesn't perfectly match the traditional descriptions of the New Jersey legend. It may simply have been the witness's closest point of reference. Have you seen something like this around Michigan?
